The team behind Boon

Alex Simmons co-founded Boon in 2020 and leads it as CEO. He spent the early part of his career in finance, where performance was measured closely and leadership ability wasn't measured at all.

When burnout hit, a coach helped him move from reacting to acting with intention. Coaching worked, but it only reached a few people at the top. He started Boon to bring it to every level of a company.

Boon is headquartered in Royal Oak, Michigan, with a remote-first team. Everyone on the team has access to coaching, because the company runs on what it sells.

What Boon does

Boon Scale

1:1 coaching for every employee, booked directly with a coach matched to their role. Monthly use runs around 30%, compared with 3 to 5% for a typical EAP.

Boon Grow

A 6-month program for new and rising managers: 12 biweekly 1:1 sessions, group cohort sessions, and check-ins with each participant's manager. Growth is measured with pre and post assessments on 3 to 5 competencies the company picks.

Boon Exec

Confidential 6-month coaching for C-suite leaders, VPs, and senior directors, with coaches who have held senior roles themselves. The company sees aggregate progress and competency growth, never session content.

Boon Together

Group coaching cohorts of 4 to 8, team workshops of 15 to 45, and leadership offsites of 10 to 30, all tied into the 1:1 coaching program. Pre and post assessments track changes in how the team communicates and makes decisions.

Boon Adapt

1:1 coaching for leaders and managers during AI rollouts and restructures. Managers get support through the change itself, alongside the rollout plan and training.

What makes Boon different

One system across every level

All five programs share one competency model. When someone moves from Scale to Grow to Exec, their coaching history moves with them.

Coaches with operating experience

Boon's 300+ coaches are ICF-certified former executives, functional leaders, and operators. They are matched by role, industry, and the challenge the leader faces.

Pay per completed session

Pricing is usage-based with no per-seat fees. Scale can launch in under a week.

Confidential by design

Companies see aggregate participation, themes, and competency trends. Individual session content stays between coach and client.

Coaching between sessions

AI session summaries and action items arrive in Slack or Teams. AI roleplay lets leaders practice hard conversations before they have them.
